Fuel Tank Cap Gasket?

Bart,

You nailed it!!!  I don't think there could be a more perfect solution than the one you (and Alan) posted.  Exact original part and still available from Yamaha!

Lately I've felt the same "frustration" you've expressed...  perfect answers are posted  by someone and it's like the answer is invisible or ignored?  Thread sometimes goes on and on...  I don't know what it is...  happens with both parts and repair questions.  I wonder if posts aren't seen or read?  Or maybe they can't believe the part is still available from Yamaha?  Or maybe they don't want to buy from Yamaha?

On repairs, I'm waiting for the post where someone wants to change the rings but doesn't want to remove the cylinder head...

Anyway, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU SHARING THE RESULTS OF YOUR EXHAUSTIVE RESEARCH WITH US!!!

A little breakdown in communication here, methinks!

Mothersbaugh was replying to Gearboy's post on the KDI part, not Bart.Ives' on the Yamaha (I THINK!!!).

I agree...  my comments about the frustration weren't directed at Mothersbaugh, Gearboy, or anyone else that posted here...

My comment was about the feeling expressed that the answer given was not being seen/considered/acknowledged.  In hindsight, maybe this wasn't the best example...

My purpose was to make sure Bart didn't get discouraged from posting answers here and to let him know many likely appreciated the time it took him to respond with the results of his research...

It's the Bart Ives, the Mothersbaugh's, the Gearboy's, and yes, the Gr8Uncleal's...  everyone that takes time to ask and answer questions... that make this forum the BEST!!!!!

Yes; correct. Not sure why, Al, but I wasn't seeing your response, or I would not have duplicated it!

Except, I guess I did give Dave @ KDI a good plug for the 2-part unit 74's!!

No offense taken anywhere, here, and I highly respect everyone's opinions. I don't mind being corrected, either, when that needs to be done. Sometimes that's how I learn here. I stick my neck out and sometimes I get corrected. I learn; no problem.
One thing I would encourage people to do is to check back and tell all of us what worked and what did not. My frustration is when someone collects a lot of data and suggestions, says thank-ya kindly, and then is never heard from again. I'd like to hear back in 25 words or less if they fixed the problem or threw the bike off a bridge into a river. Or figured out something on their own along the way that worked well for them.
Just my $0.02. Thanks.

P.S. Had a great day. Found and bought 400 CCI Magnum Large pistol primers!

At thre rate I shoot my .41 and .44, mostly just for deer and antelope, that will serve as a lifetime supply.

I’ve heard from friends that the ammo component availability is dismal right now. I slacked down to almost nothing when the enduroholic took effect, so I’m out of the loop. I can still feed the .44 specials and the .32s if nothing else. Afraid I’m in for sticker shock when the time comes.

"They" must know that those of us in the Rocky Mountain West need it more than people on the east and west coasts. I found a pound of W231 the other day, same store. I use that for a number of different cartridges.
