Fuel Tank Cap Gasket? was created by Quartermaster35

Does anyone know the part number for the gasket for these or where they can be purchased  ?

(I don't see it listed on the Yamaha part sites as an avaiable part)

Yamahoper found a Harley cap gasket fits the later models and the early cap is the same size I think (at least I've swapped caps between early and 75-76 models)

It's a fairly common size gas cap so a good parts store might also have one...  if they even sell cap gaskets anymore?  Many years ago I bought one at NAPA.  They just matched it up.

Get a piece of cork  oil pan  gasket material and with a sharp knife you can make one and they work great

This is the one that fits on the RD125 sized petrol cap (as opposed to the larger DS7, R5 etc) and is still available from Yamaha. I bought two of them here in the UK and they were £3 each.

Judging by the part number shown on the KDI link (437), that two piece will be for 1974 on models. The part number for the DT1 petrol cap starts 122 (according to the listings on CMSNL), as does the part number for the gasket I showed. No idea why Yamaha don't show it on all of their parts listings, mind!

Here is the Yamaha Part Number for the fuel cap packing 122-24612-01-00 for the cap 122-24610-01-00.

1979 gtmx parts list indicates this item.   This is the same cap for the DT1-250 and many others that use the old style Yamaha Gas Cap.

I doubt it is. That one is for later models, 1974, I believe...they work great for the correct application, don't get me wrong. I have installed a couple of those.

Do you feel that these are the  not the correct part numbers you are requesting?   fuel cap packing 122-24612-01-00 for the cap 122-24610-01-00.   Or do you believe that there are different ones available?  I am just asking because I did an exhaustive search on this same issue and these are the numbers I came up with and put to use.  They do work.  I would be very interested to know if there are different ones out there more suitable for this application.
