I requested a quote from Franks Forks. I've no idea what to expect. LoL

In other news: I got a notification today that the exhaust is on its way back for the DT1. Looking forward to seeing how that turned out.

Under the chrome cap on the top of the lower sliders are a pair of bushings .
They can wear , and allow too much play in the fork . The wear on the fork tube could
be caused by it being bent . A complete strip and clean out is your best chance to get
everything working properly .

Arrived from Jet-Hot today for the 250:

I think it turned out perfect. It looks like a hole in the light. :)

Nothing really new to report except that I'm having a hell of a time finding the metal shrouded fork seals for the AT1. I've ordered and returned two sets so far that indicated they were metal only to have them arrive not be.

I've still not gotten a response back from Frank's Forks and the used forks that I've seen so far look worse than what I have.

I may end up tossing the AT1 back together for a bit to concentrate on the 250.

I've seen a few posts recently where others have purchased these Daichi reproduction tubes.

Forking by Franks, you need to call them, the message function on their website is completely ignored in my experience. I priced a set of tubes from them for a '72 RT2 recently, and was over $400.

Bite the bullet and get original Yamaha fork seals. They are pricier than the 10,000 other seals on eBay, but they will be metal shrouded.

It might be worth trying a bearing factor for the seal. Give them the seal measurements and see what they've got.

I'm in the UK and got mine here from a well regarded company called Simply Bearings.

I'm still trying to find a set of OEM. I'm not too concerned with the pricing, it's just that I've gotten parts that don't match their ebay descriptions. I contact them and it's just, "Our bad. Send em back". I'm hoping 3rd time is the charm.

I'll definitely check out that link for the fork tubes. Thanks!

What Apex was saying is buy them from YAMAHA. Your local Yamaha dealer or any of dozens of on-line Yamaha parts dealers can get them. They are still available new (as are a lot of other parts, always best to check Yamaha before ebay)

My preferred place is Rocky Mountain ATV- MC.... link on left side of most pages.
