CT1 muffler gasket (packing) was created by PDXtyist

Never have used this type of packing gasket material. Any tips or pointers ? I imagine one simple rolls it around in the slot.

Agreed. However, one forum member did have issues that weren't solved until he had split the manifold and cleaned out all of the old gasket.

The inner and outer parts will come apart by tapping the inner with a wooden or rubber mallet - tap the inner on the edge as shown in your photo. The two parts are a press fit and will go back together the reverse of how you took them apart. Photos of mine are attached.

I'm not saying that you have to do this, just that it is an option.

How much of the gasket is used is down to personal choice - some folks use just enough for a single "loop", others for two.

I had no idea those two parts came apart so easy. Tip of the day. Looks like I will be resolving the leak on my CT1 Exhaust mount soon!
