What's your plan to get the dents out of the oil tank Apex when you clean it up?
The metal is really thick . Tough as old boots.

It's too bad BOTH oil tanks are smashed, but haven't put a thought to paint. It's going to be a patina bike for awhile.

Stud welder and slide hammer work the best.

Your bike is coming right along. If you are still in nor cal it might be time to ride in your neighborhood when it’s finished eh?:Buds

Still in Norcal. And yes, just waiting for the rear sprocket, chain is in hand. Haven't picked up a battery yet but that's on the list. Can't wait to see how it rides!

I rode it. It runs great!!!

Put on a 39 tooth rear sprocket, as this will be, by far, mostly a street rider. Spent $95 on a ProTaper gold chain, non-O ring, way overkill but I'll not be selling this bike anytime soon, so dollars well spent. Fresh trans oil, and kick start and it started right up again after the duct tape fiasco! Runs GREAT, then initial ride...NO ISSUES!. Wow...so rode it to a friends last weekend and it runs BRILLIANT! After all the usual BS I need to go through this is really satisfying.

And it's SO nice to have/see another Enduro at the house. Did some work on the RT2 over the weekend, solving some lighting issues, fork seal leaks...and more. Was nice to see multiple Enduros!

Haven't gotten a battery yet, but couldn't wait to pull the trigger on the Mikes XS tank badge repops!

Battery is in, but when put in, it was as if there was no battery in it. Tested the fuse, and it was fine. On to the ignition switch to find...this.

Quality time with my oversized soldering gun, and that problem was solved. And of course while there, cleaned up the copper contacts. And with that, everything powered up that should, brake, tail & horn! How about that.

The original rear shocks had no damping left. Nothing. Like the car you see driving down the freeway with the shocks or struts completely blown and the car just keeps bouncing, and bouncing.

I got these Showa shocks from "the go cart place" on eBay. Saw the thread on our forum about them, so thought I'd give them a shot. They were intended for the AT1 undergoing the MX restoration, but when I realized the upper shock eyelets needed to be modded to fit, I set them aside. For the DT1 however, I'm not so worried about appearance if I screwed up re-sizing the upper mount. The spacers need to be drilled to accept the OE shock bolts, which when done & shocks mounted they are invisible to the eye. After completing these steps, and shocks mounted, I believe I over-thought how they would appear...because they look great.

On the damping front though, they ain't all that great.
