Oil on uni filter was created by Prinzy

Do you guys oil the uni brand air filters? I’m running a single layer foam uni on my dt1 and I oiled it but I’m constantly messing with my jetting so I just took it out for a quick test run with no filter and obviously it ran really good but I don’t really think I should have to jet down to a 150 main with needle in second position to get my bike to run right on top end I think it’s not flowing enough air through that filter any input? It’s also like 90 degrees and humid as hell here in nw Illinois so that does play s role I guess

Squeeze the excess oil out. Too much is not good.

Do you guys ever remember having to change jets very often? I mean if it’s a hot humid day I go from a 160 to a 150 or it’s rich at 3/4 to full throttle and in the fall I’m running a 165 with good performance

I've found many of the filter oils way too "sticky" and will make it run super rich.

I like the twin air filter oil... it's very thin and then almost "dry" after you let it sit overnight to let the solvents evaporate. But catches the dirt. It's been around for decades and works best on foam in my experience.

We also used to use Capt Dave's super simple method.

On the Uni for the later models some have trimmed to make it "one layer" like the OEM, rather than wrapping around the cage far enough so the ends meet to make it two layers of foam. I'm not sure what design they have for the earlier bike filter.

Yeah I cut mine so it’s only one layer because it ran super rich with two layers. I’ll just wash out the oil with gas and try a lighter oil like you said or just no oil at all which is probably a mistake thanks for the advice !

Early DT1 had paper I think. I don't remember paper on the CT... could be wrong though. Here's a service bulletin... but we all know how reliable Yamaha literature can be.
