As surprising as it is. Art Ridderhof the very Famous 70+ year old Yamaha Enduro Craig’s List Seller ( who is a parts client ) actually a few months ago gave me some good sound advice. After understanding who he is, and what he has already accomplished ( many of his sold bikes came through the yama-land- shop for ( pick up _ sort out repairs ).

It’s true that you can learn something from anyone.

"What exactly was his sound advice??"

Maybe it was "never share sound advice you've received on the internet"? :o)

It’s really not a secret. In business you must find out on the initial call if the client has the funding to do the tasks they’ve requested. On Craig’s List there are 90% time waster’s. They don’t truly understand the vintage motorcycle repair business and nobody has the time to explain it either. So, Art said when asked, about this. “All of his clients have money.” They pay for a bike in the restoration process stage. It could be four months until delivery, and still there are several issues that need to be straightened and sorted out. But nobody who buys bikes from Mr. Ridderhof are poor.

You must ask your clients what they do for a living? If they don’t answer you, move on to the next prospect.

hope this helps…
