Update 4/11/16
Mostly all good news, or should I say 2 steps forward, one step back! She came to life Saturday morning! MarkT was correct about my no spark issue. It came down to simply wiping the brand new points with some paper. I took video of the first start (2nd try

) and first ride in almost 2 decades. I don't think I can share videos? Anyway, she runs and sounds great. For some reason I couldn't get into 2nd gear for the first 5 minutes, I imagine gears stuck to or slightly rusted to their respective shafts, or shift drum with some slight rust? Regardless, once she shifted I cruised my street and back yard trails for a good 20-30 minutes. I am most impressed in how well she runs and feels on the trail and street. The seat is awesome, the suspension feels very good. I rode it so much I already have 2 stroke spooge oozing from the normal places! It's important to note that although the restoration was fairly extensive, the motor has yet to be touched. I rode it again yesterday quite a bit, and my Dad even stopped by for a quick blast! It's pretty chilly up here so for a real street ride I'd probably need to re-jet. I think i'll just wait for warmer weather!
As for my one step backwards: After she ran for a minute I turned the lights on and everything seemed OK. Headlight high-low (red indicator seemed backwards?), instrument light in speedo came on, tachometer did not. Tail light, brake lights all good. The I revved it and poof, everything out, fuse blown. Not sure if I cooked the bulbs or not, wanted to ride it more first! If anyone has ideas let me know. I will have more details soon (condition of bulbs, etc...)
I still have plenty to do, but all in all she's back in business. I owe a huge thank you to all who have helped me on this forum. At some point I'm going to supply some data in regards to how much I spent, origins of the spare parts, etc... Might be fun to see!
I will post more riding pics soon. Thanks Again!!!!
Dad's first ride!
Four Thumbs Up!
