Vape System Feedback and Purchase advise was created by Quartermaster35

I am really interested in some feedback from those of you that have purchased the system?

Is it worth it?

Where did most of you purchase it from in the US?

Possibly no responses because it's been discussed here many times.  Summary:

Great system
No flywheel key, (key is mostly "assembly aid", not required) HVC Cycle might add keyway if you must have.
If you don't have a clue on how to time or know someone that does you probably shouldn't screw with ignition if you don't want to learn

Best deal by far is to buy direct from VAPE.

And again, lots of info if you search forum for Powerdynamo or VAPE.

& as always--if no crank key then do it up super tight to avoid it slipping & i hope your crank taper is good, which it will be if its not broken the crank key previously. 250-360 motors suffer more from that problem.

If the taper is in rough shape, you can restore the taper by taking the valve lapping compound and putting a small amount on the crank, find a way to lock the engine by putting some long rope through the spark plug hole then work the flywheel back and forth. once you get a gray area all the way around the crankshaft and the flywheel you plan to use.

make sure you clean the crank and flywheel when you are done

I have good experiences with the VAPE systems. I have successfully used on a 1975 DT250 motor and now have it on a '73 MX360 engine.

I also have one on a `1978 Suzuki SP370. I can't believe they make them for those beasts. Works great. Can run LED lights and turn signals.

Make sure your carburetor is working good so you don't  chase an ignition problem that is really a fuel issue.

I had that issue with the SP. I took the carb completely apart and had a very hard time getting the air screw/pilot screw adjustment back to a place where it runs good at all throttle positions. The manual says NEVER touch these and now I know why. It ran like @#$% until I got it set back.
