Help! I know I’m missing something so I’ll ask you, the knowledgeable ones. 1973 RT1-360 ran great in November. Now no spark. First thing I thought was bad coil. Replaced it, nothing. Read continuity on black wire. Shows ground but I do get a dip when I rotate flywheel. Normal, right? I checked voltage on the black wire when I kick it. Showing voltage. Yes, I tried googling and searching. I know it’s gotta be something simple but don’t for the life of me know what it is. TIA

Trying cleaning the point contacts... usually the problem when a bike loses spark sitting.

Ok, so I finally pulled the flywheel to have a look. Everything appears to be just fine. I suppose I should change the points and condenser while I’m in there cuz who knows when the last time they were changed. It’s been at least 25 years. So my question is, how can I do this without a dial indicator or is it even possible? TIA

Set the points at 14 & forget it. But there's a notch in the flywheel window that aligns with a pointer on the coil which in theory will be 2.9 btdc unless someone has bent the pointer. Just saying what i do so don't take it as gospel & others will tell you the correct way--all good. Might just add '& think MarkT has already said it--or i did--give points a scratch & see what happens as shouldn't pack up from just sitting--umm, turned the ignition key on?, sorry, i shouldn't even ask that. & talking key--Crank Key, now you have the flywheel off make Very Sure you fully tighten the flywheel nut or the crank key will 'be no more' as those bikes eat them for breakfast. I admit i overtighten mine but never broken the end of a crank--yet!!.
