Replacement fuses was created by Bikenut71
I recently developed a short in my AT2 which melted a few wires and blew out the fuse. I'm in the process of replacing the damaged wiring but having a hard time locally sourcing the fuse for it. None of the auto parts stores carry 25mm 10 amp fuses. Any suggestions short of going online and paying a lot of shipping for a couple of fuses? Do small engine repair shops carry these? The local bike shop doesn't stock them either. Maybe a new fuse holder that accepts 30mm fuses?

If you are melting wires before the fuse blows, I would not suggest going up to a 30 amp fuse. You may wind up with your bike lookin' like this emoticon:

I found these old fuses at a place in Boulder, CO, called McGuckin Hardware. Give them a call, as they look like they ship. I poked around a bit, but I didn't spend enough time at it to find your needed fuse...

I never said I was looking for a 30 amp fuse, I'm looking for a 25mm long 10 amp fuse. The same that originally came with the bike. I'll look into the hardware store, thanks.

Just get an aftermarket fuse holder that runs a common fuse. But first--as i'm sure you'll be doing--find the short. I've got a ammeter with a high 20 amp scale & a low 5 amp scale & 'think' what i'd do-- "without thinking too hard just yet"--is join the wires without the fuse in place & run my meter from battery earth to frame earth so the short immediately registers on the meter just by touching earth, before anything melts. Then go looking & doing the meter touch earth thing with every wire you unplug or wriggle until you find it. But i'd check the rectifier & unplug the two wires but i'd think if its gone bad it be bubbling or something. Ok i might have to eat my words as i was thinking 6 volt magneto AT2 like we have down here, but guess yours is 12 volt electric start? so--umm--could still do the same with an ammeter, just don't touch the electric start or the meter will disappear in a puff of smoke.
