No Start Carb Inspection 74 DT250A was created by JWormy
Hi Folks,
I was getting spark but no start so I took the carburetor off to inspect. Noticed the floats were upside down, but I also noticed an extra port on my carb that isn't mention in the manual. It looks to me like an oil inlet port? Can someone take a look and confirm for me? This carburetor came off of a 1974 DT250B model and I was looking at the manual for that year while inspecting, but didn't see anything mentioned about it. I'm wondering if it needs to be plugged in order to prevent an air leak? This is on the engine side btw, photo attached.
Thanks for your help,
Jess

What's the number on the front of the choke boss above the fitting... looks like "4XX" over a "61" ?
Can't quite make out the two numbers after the 4. Probably a 498/61 which is from a 1975 DT250B which I believe had the oil injected into carb instead of base of cylinder.
Anyway, yes, you need to cap that fitting.

Yea I can confirm it came off of a 75. Don’t have the engine to that one anymore to confirm but that’s what I suspected. I’ll cap it. Thanks!
