Oil pumps. was created by kwzl1
Hi. New here, but long time vintage enduro rider. Just got a non-running 1975 DT175 to restore. Pulled oil pump off to rebuild as it was leaking. Bought a rebuild kit. Found teeth ground off the inside drive gear in one spot, and the gear and shaft jammed so badly that I can neither turn the shaft nor remove it from the body. I would like to replace the pump assembly (or at least the side with the jammed gear).
My question is what pump assemblies are compatible with my bike Can I use a pump from another year or engine size?
Thanks!

Short answer, no. Better answer, contact and send it to member DEET for a rebuild. He's the resident oil pump expert here on the site.

I generally like to do my own work, which is why I'm trying to identify what the correct parts are to use.

Partzilla shows a very few models with that same pump. Sometimes you can swap if you have a matching worm gear shaft that fits your bike. There are likely many many potential options but they won't have the exact reduction ratio of the pump for your model. With some research you might find something close enough.

Write DEET an email and ask for his guidance, at any rate, on parts and interchangeability. I get it that you want to do it yourself, but turning down his help is like telling Ted Williams (when he was alive) that you already know how to hit. I own nine of these bikes, and I have sent every pump off of every bike to him to rebuild.
Just sayin'.
