1977 DT400 timing was created by 1977-Dt400

I just want to make sure I am timing this correctly. I just installed the new 12v vape ignition system. I have the dial gauge in the spark plug hole. I turn the rotor to the left/ counter clock wise until I reach top dead center. At this point I move the gauge to zero it out. Then I turn the rotor to the right/ clock wise. My gauge reads inches so one full spin and then 10 more ticks. Carefully take off the rotor line up the lines on rotor and stator and then torque down the nut. Am I missing anything? She doesn't want to start up.
Also trying to attach a short video of myself timing it but it says "failed to create attachment directory" any idea how to solve this?

I've forgotten how to read a dial gauge but found this inch gauge link.
So one lap plus 10=90 thou= 2.1mm btdc. Is my maths ok? not sure.
Does vape say 2.1?.
Hope it works out well with the vape.

Hold that flywheel solid & tighten it well, especialy if it doesn't run a crank key.

2.9 is what i'm trying to set it at. Had an issue of it slipping when trying to torque down the rotor nut. I will try and set it again tomorrow. I believe 2.9 mm is .11 inch. Am I wrong thinking one full spin of the dail is .1 and then the 10 more ticks would be the .01 to make it .11? If this is correct ill set it and try to make a clear video to double check with you guys!

I dunno haha. Looking at the gauge in the link its 100 thou full circle!! & i think you need 116 thou.
But am i wrong.
Ok i cheated after writing that & googled 2.9mm in thou & came back @ 114.173 thou.
I'd say ya close enough if going full circle & to the 10 btdc 'i think'.
Row of question marks ????????????????????? lol.

Is the plug straight in the head or angled?

Your gauge will work without removing the head.
