Stator issues was created by tsmitty1958

Hi all,

Happy New Year!
73 CT3 I bought it in June. Someone had converted it to CDI and used it as a dirt bike. Has 2 wiring harnesses and it was a mess. I removed the CDI wiring, bough a used stator and flywheel. Got spark and it ran pretty well. I wanted to then restore it to original. Tore the engine apart, replaced all the bearings and seals. Repainted everything put it all back together. NO SPARK. New points and condenser. I think I have a bad coil on the stator but can't figure it out.

After many hours of reasearch and testing, I put a stator from a 73 CT3 that runs on it and got great spark. Bought another used stator, installed it, great spark.

Now all back together and will attempt to start it soon.

My question is...... is a stator worth trying to fix, or am I just wasting time? I'd love to fix it and have a spare as I have 3 CT3's and plan on restoring more in the future.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
