Hub identification - Help please was created by xt350pilot
Good evening!
I've mentioned this in previous posts... my CT2 has a 21" front wheel and a high fender that a previous owner installed. The front hub has "24800" on the inside and no other numbers. I assume that is the "model code" 248 (AT1) and the dash numbers 00... and that the actual hub number 25111 is assumed...?
The reason for my question, is that I'm trying to order some spokes and nipples. I see I have a couple of options: 1.) I can provide the dimensions etc to Buchanans and have them made OR 2.) Try and find on Ebay - but I don't know what the spoke part number to search for OEM/NOS stuff since I can't identify what bike this came off. I suppose it's also possible someone laced a rim on a stock hub and perhaps ordering from Buchanans is the way to go.
Any of the early model AT/CT seem to have 18" front rims as stock... Was there an MX model that had a 21"?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
Shane

The answer can be found in the Tech Library here. There's a chart that says spokes for 21" front wheel conversion on the 69-71 AT/CT are part number 248-25104-10. (The -10 is important.)

Thank you Mark. Very helpful
I was poking around in the Tech Library but nothing jumped out. Do you mind letting me know what document you found this info?

There's a few Yamaha Service Bulletins that show parts interchanges and lists of conversion parts. One is #219. It can be found in the back of one or more of the early Service Manuals for the early models (don't forget to check 250/360 manuals). Also, early 125 and possibly 175 owner's manuals sometimes have a section in the back on "converting for competition" with parts lists.
I have the 219 bulletin saved separately, so didn't look in manuals.

Great! I'll look through some of the service manuals for my own interest.
Either way, I've placed an order for a NOS set of spokes on Ebay based on the part number below, so should be good to go once that arrives (in a few weeks). Winter is fast approaching in western Canada, so I'm not in a rush now... just glad that the pieces are coming together.
Thanks again!
