First start in 34 years! was created by Enduro_73
Been working for a few weeks on my dad's dt3 that has been sitting for 34 years. After several failed attempts I finally got it started today. Just wanted to share. Still have plenty to do with the bike, tires, brakes, fork seals etc. I've never ridden motorcycles before and never attempted anything like this so just happy that it worked.

I hope you have a friend to help understand the clutch and throttle inter-action… might be a bit frightening when that front wheel whistles off the ground and you get tossed off. Bike rolling off, un-manned right in to the dirt… oh boy…
I hope the first voyage ends with a grin and the bike intact..

Going to take a safety and riding course before I attempt to ride it so hopefully that will help. Also going to get all the right riding gear.

Glad to hear you got your Dad's old bike running AND that you'll take a riding course. Most of us here grew up riding mini-bikes then various other bikes, but to just get on one as an adult, never having ridden, could be dangerous. Keep us posted on the restoration, and stay safe!

Oh it was dangerous when we were kids and first learned to ride, we just didn’t care and as kids we were invincible and when we got thrown off the bike we bounced back up, as adults we don’t bounce back up anymore, If I get thrown off now I just lay on the ground awhile wheezing & grunting, come to think of it I wheezed and grunted after getting thrown off too many times to count as a kid also.
