At2 125 knocking? was created by A.literal.forest

So I'll openly admit that I don't know all that much about 2 stroke motors or even bikes in general, and my bike wasn't in the greatest shape when I got it. I just want to verify with people who know what their talking about that what I'm hearing is knock and isn't good. I pulled the cylinder off after taking this video and the wrist pin bearing has absolutely no play in it up and down or rotating side to side and the crank bearings has the tiniest bit of play up and down but I don't think it's anything to be worried about. If it is bad and there's anything else you could think about in the motor let me know.

Here's a link bc I didn't know you can't upload videos directly

You need to upload video to a hosting site like Vimeo or YouTube and then link it here.

The engine sounds pretty normal to me. The wrist pin is not supposed to move at all. Matter of fact. The best way to remove the wrist pin is to warm up the piston with the heat gun, then simply push it out with your fingers, possibly with a glove on? What I’m hearing in that very short video is not overly concerning.

Motor sounds pretty normal but audio sometimes make things sound worse than they are. The way you're describing the small end bearing sounds normal--no play--. Small end pin on a new piston is a slide fit but always end up with a ridge at the circlip groove next time you want to remove it. Can hear piston rattle but bit difficult in two seconds. You did well, but a long video idling & revving up & down a bit is good. Might even be a bit of clutch basket noise at idle. Can check left side crank bearing by trying to move the generator up & down.

I was gonna check the clutch anyway cause it's always been a  bit messed up but I didn't know it would sound like that. Hopefully that's all it is! I'll be posting updates when I can get it off cause one of the screws snapped...
