Does that brass one press onto the original steel center once the split plastc one is removed. How are they retained to the center as there's a lot of pressure turning that against the clutch spring resistance. Looks like a great replacement idea if it holds. Skillful people out there making things.

The brass piece does press on and takes quite a bit of force to press it in, I used a vice and slowly press on, checking frequently that it was going on straight. The steel center has nurling on it to help hold it on. I got the part from KDI reproductions.

Yes, the only thing that was changed was the brass piece for the broken plastic piece.

Interesting thought 'that'. I guess it doesn't get a lot of use & if greased up it must last ok. Or hasn't it been around long enough to find out. The RD style one i use has a 4 start spiral & is steel with a nylon outer. Anyway, i don't use the clutch--or only for starting off--gosh did i say that!!
