ct3 turn signals was created by ksours

Old rusty came without blinkers. I had power so when i installed a new set of blinkers I had hoped to have turn signals. I tested the flasher and it showed power on all of the time. When I hooked up the new flashers and tried them out there was a weird whirring noise coming from the flasher unit. No flasher  so I gave it a few taps and the whirring changed pitch but still no signal flash. The lights do not even come on , let alone flash. I understand this is a stand alone battery function and the engine does not need to be running ( it is on the bench). ?? The flashers came 2 wire and I hooked the black/white to the hot wire and grounded the other wire (black). I am not sure if I have a bad flsher unit or overlooked something.

If your indicators came with two wires , you should use an ohm meter to check which of the two
wires ground to the indicators body .
If your wiring is connected correctly , then your flasher relay is the weak link .

Just some randoms:-

1) Positive wire usually goes through the hollow indicator mounting bolt, with the negative coming out of an adjacent hole in the indicator body.
2) You don't say what indicators you bought - new repro, random used etc. I would comment that (I think!) a black/white wire was the colour of the earth/negative wire on Suzukis.
3) Are you using the original flasher relay or a new repro one? If the original, it is possible that the faces of the contact breaker points inside it have got dirty and need cleaning.

I ended up installing Dinky turn signals. They are shorter than the stock . You were correct that the black/white was the earth wire. They both came out of the main shaft and the shafts were self grounding. Lights are on and no blinkey yet. Flasher on order sooo recheck all of the grounds and wait. Thx again.

If you ordered a modern 3 wire flasher, you'll only use 2 wires.  Best is usually getting a 2 wire.

Thx: I ordered a 2 prong 6V Emgo. Not sure of the flash rate but it really won't matter. Glad to see the response.
