1973 yamaha ct3 175 exhaust was created by ksours

Picked up a project and 1 of the issues is that the baffle has been shoved down into the muffler and will not come out (penetrating oil and upside down force). It caused the inlet lip to be eaten away. Not sure if this muffler is salvageable but would like to try to save it. Any ideas?

Perhaps a 2' length of 9 gauge, then make a "barbed" hook at one end.. with the barb being about 1".. I suspect there are holes, slots that barb can hook into and be able to pull it out far enough you can grab with a pair of pinchers..

I'll give it a try' I soaked it overnight and it looks like the previous owner shoved it pretty deep into the exhaust and the rust makes it even tougher. Solved the lip problem- a 1.5" exhaust pipe connector ( id x od) . I'll cut off what I need and weld it back in place. It's just the silencer now. Thx again.
