Electric Start Trailmaster L5's? was created by dmcarthur

My Trailmaster has been modified.  The ignition switch was removed and I am wondering if they also removed the starter circuit.  The right handlebar control has a starter button but I cannot find a starter.  Perhaps it is buried in the engine somewhere?  Did any of the later L5 models have electric start?  Thanks.  Doug

The starter / generator is on the left hand end of your crankshaft .
It has two sets of carbon brushes in there . From stopped it works as a starter motor ,
and once fired up and running operates as a generator , charging the electrics and battery .

Interesting. All the bikes I have worked on have a separate starter.
