I'm no expert but if my memory is correct, I'm leaning towards the airbox having a silver finish that did look kind of like zinc.
Lots of experts on here that will know for sure, hopefully one will comment.

Sorry, I probably should not have made the comment about the black finish. My first "real" motorcycle was a '71 AT1-C - drawing from some pretty distant memories, I thought I remembered it being black. On my current '73 DT-3 it is definitely black. THe early bikes must have been different. MarkT is as good a source as anyone...

Not sure if this link will work, but I found a pic on a long-completed Bring A Trailer listing. You are correct on the silver, and I stand corrected (I seem to stand that way alot these days...). Sorry for jumping in prematurely with bad advice.

No apology required. Everyday is a day is a school day
Or should be. Cheers

I love taking stuff to bits - putting back together is another thing altogether.

No problem Phyllo! Input is always appreciated! I've been wrong a bunch of times.

I appreciate the kind words, but I committed one of my own worst pet peeves here... Speaking with authority about something that I was wrong on. It was an honest mistake, but I still hate doing that. Tried to make up for it by finding the pic, and I learned from it.
