CT1C wiring harness inquiry was created by Jogar

Howdy,

I recently purchased a ‘71 CT1C , and the owner hatched up the original wiring harness. I’ve got an ignition with the original connectors, but I’m wondering if anyone knows where to get a box of the other connector ends to clip into them.

edit: wondering also now that I’m thinking of it (which I think will be solved by switching out to an original ignition switch) the bike runs in key position 0 and 1, but dies in position 2. No clue why , has anybody encountered that?

thanks ! Pic attached through IMGUR

It sounds like someone took the ignition switch apart and had an oops when reassembling if it's like the one in my RT3 There's a round plastic disc with connectors , it can go in one of two positions and if it's upside down it behaves that way. For connections, this could be a good place to look.

Thanks for that diddy of info re: the ignition. I’ll have to take a peek .

The prices on that site are pretty wild, I could pay the same and buy an entirely new wiring harness!

thanks!

Here's what the soldered plates on the underside of your switch should be (CT1C and CT2/3 are the same).

Vintage Yamaha Enduro Fans - 72 CT2 Ignition Switch (yamaha-enduros.com)

+ 1 to Vintage Connections - I've never found their prices excessive.

An alternative, and what I have done over the years, is buy old looms/harness just for the block connectors.

I have one NOS wire harness left for the CT1 if you can't find what you want.
