Welcome!

VIN Prefix on late 60's to about 1973 did not specifically identify the model... you need the full number. For example, all USA 125 enduros from 1969 through 1973 had a VIN that started with "AT1-" Even the AT2 and AT3 models.

So all US JT2's will have a VIN that starts with "JT1"... the rest of the number tells you if it's a JT1 or JT2

VIN tables here are for USA models. If you dig in Tech Library you will find evidence of what looks to be a JT1J model indicated to be for the Japanese and "other" markets that had a VIN range starting with JT1-100101...

Information is scarce for non-USA models but Japanese and "other" market bikes do show up in other countries or even in the USA... (often Japanese models were brought home by US Servicemen stationed in Japan.)
1963 YG1-T, 1965 MG1-T, Allstate 250, 1970 CT1b, 1971 R5, 1973 AT3MX, 1974 TS400L, 1975 RD350, 1976 DT175C, 1976 Husqvarna 250CR, 1981 DT175G, 1988 DT50, 1990 "Super" DT50, 1991 RT180, 2017 XT250
