Speedo reads 4-5 MPH high

I just rode a fairly direct route from my driveway to our local pier, that according to Google Maps is 3.5 miles, and my odometer was beginning to hit 3.9 when I arrived. I came back another way that should have been 3.1 miles, and it read 3.4 when I arrived. So the odometer is off by about 10%, like the speedo.
