CT1B - Front fork with air suspension? was created by YamCT1B
Hi Guys
My CT1B (1970) has front forks with air suspension. I've never seen that before on this model. I can't find any documentation on it either. Were there any CT's with air suspension or was this front fork borrowed from another model?
Thank you very much and greetings from Germany
I can't post a photo here, it doesn't work somehow. :/

Regarding your forks, aftermarket fork caps with valves in were a popular fitment for a while. If you have the original wheel hugging front mudguard/fender, as opposed to one mounted on the underside of the steering column, then it is likely that your forks are standard, but with the aftermarket caps.

This year I worked on a 1974 Honda MT 250 with Air Valves on the fork caps. The previous owner removed both short and long springs rendering them useless. Remove your caps and see if the 3” spacer and long springs are inside.

You're right, those were just fake caps.
Thank you very much!

This thread reminded me that back in the early '70's I bought a short heavy spring kit for the CT-1 I had back then, that was just added to the existing fork springs. I removed the top cap, pushed them in, and replaced the cap. My current CT-1 has the stock forks, with original oil, and works beautifully. Never been taken apart. The top tubes were extremely rusty when I began working on it, so I avoided compressing the forks until I could knock the rust off, and get them as smooth as possible. 1,400 miles on it since, and still not leaking.
