My case uses small starter gear with flat spot as all my later gears are larger diameter and will not work. I would assume in my case it would use a larger diameter idler gear for proper mesh. Then the question is, does it use a different driven gear behind clutch hub?
Quite the conundrum!  
I'm glad the planets are in alignment as it's working fine now!!

Just a note on this. According to the Clymer manual,a segment in the GYTR tuning book says to use the idler and gear from a CT3 as they are cut differently and are stronger. I have put the idler and kick gear from the CT3 in both my CT1 & CT1B.
