1969 AT1 question was created by Keltanf
Howdy everyone! Just a couple quick questions.
Is there anything in particular I should know/look out for on these models?
Also I saw in the specs that the ‘69 - ‘71 are all listed as electric start, so am I right to assume all of those years came with electric start?
Thanks!
For those who are interested, I stumbled across a solid deal for a 1969 AT1. It was initially too far from me but a friend offered to pick it up in exchange for gas money. That’s an offer I can’t turn down!

If you find problems with the electric start, then it might be brushes.
If problems charging, then I believe that the regulator can be dismantled, cleaned and adjusted. Might also be brushes.

I recently restored a '70 AT1. The coolest thing I think on the early Yamaha enduros is the Low front fender and the AT1, 2, 3's that have the electric start in addition to the kick.
The main issues I had with mine were, rusted exhaust, rust on the fork tube inners (these are hard to find replacements) and the gas tank was rusty inside. Typical dirt bike issues.

Thanks for all the information everyone! It’s greatly appreciated. Due to location constraints, I will have to wait a month to begin work on the bike but I’m very excited!
I swear these enduros are like a drug!

the AT1-M was the pure dirt version and had a magneto. It was the same one used on the CT1
