Thoughts on CT1 throttle cable (top part). was created by Gr8uncleal
I was concerned that my new cable didn't have the locating plate/tag (that one of the screws goes through) that my original had and that is also shown on CMSNL, so raised this with the supplier. His response is shown below - is this correct and should I stop worrying?
Many thanks.
"alan,
small plate is not part of at/ct cables. yamaha had several suppliers and most did not have the bracket so we made them that way. i have this cable on all of my ct's and there is no problem."
Many thanks.

Are you talking about this bracket underneath? Do you have the old one that you could put on the new cable?

Thanks.
Yes, but no way of adding the bracket without first dismantling the cable.
Edit - I guess it might be possible to hacksaw/grind an aperture in it, just wide enough for the cable.
Edit Edit - By the way, Tom, on the enduros, I think that standard set up is to have the cable going in from above.

I haven't taken mine apart, but is the cable ball end too big to go through that metal elbow?
If so, it would seem to me that if you cut/grind the end off the bracket, just so you had two arms sticking out, that would be enough to hold it in place. Or maybe you could cut it on one side and bend it to get it on the elbow, then bend it back?
I just checked some pics of CT-1s and you're right, that elbow is normally on top. I may go ahead and spin it around.

On my RT, there is a hole in one of the casing half’s.. I believe it’s to allow water to drain out of the bottom… a weep hole ifn you will…
I sure thought I was able to pull my cable through the elbow… or was it another brand…

Have mine put on correctly now, and this gave me an opportunity to clean a bunch of rust that was on the handlebar under the grip. When I first started working on it I put the throttle on and intended to get back to it, but forgot about it. It works a lot smoother now!

Just wind the adjuster right off the thread then only need one hacksaw cut to get it on & along.

Great point RT235. One the adjuster is off, just need to clear the cable, then slip over elbow.
