Small hole in crankcase, what to use? was created by hcdiiiga

Yamaha DT3. Well this bike cranked and ran when I got it,  which may be more that it does when I get through with it.  I had the jug bored and have a new piston, rings, and gaskets, I thought I would clean it up before I put all that on and ran across this. It's just big enough to let a WD 40 straw through. It appears the cases have been split as well. Looking for recommendations for plugging this hole. Some variety of JB Weld?

JB Weld should do it.

I used some on a weeping weld in an expansion chamber once - worked fine.

The stuff I used was specifically for high temps, but very pleased.

That hole is supposed to be there, nothing wrong as my DT2 has exact same hole...

.  You might want to straighten out the ear on the tach gear hold down (or whatever it's called), if you want to do something.

Yesterday when I noticed a little bit of gas leaking into the recess on top of my CT-1 crankcase, I also noticed that there's a little rectangular opening on the left side, inside the green circle. I'm assuming it's to allow leaked gasoline to escape that area? I found the leak, it was just the drain bolt that holds the main jet needed to be tightened a little bit. It doesn't have a fiber washer, it has a steel or aluminum washer. Not leaking now.

I would say it's for water but gasoline would drain there too.

Probably is for water and gas, though it's actually not at the lowest point in the recess. Of course they had to move it back a bit because they didn't want gas leaking into the magneto/points area :0)

Apparently for major holes a piece of wood can be used. This is from an RT3 that looks like it snapped the connecting rod and took a chunk out of the bottom. I found this piece of wood during the rebuild that a previous owner put in to fill the void..
