Hi all,
Starting to get into my crusty, rusty, '71 CT1C.
I need to replace the upper throttle cable. How does that cable attach to the 3 way connection? Throttle, carb, oil pump?

The manuals I have don't talk about this much. The diagram shows the cables and connector as 4 separate parts.
Do I need to disconnect all the cables; crab, oil pump, etc ? Thanks. It looks like everything is still intact just crusty and  old...

Number 29 on your parts list is a plastic cylinder. The lid of the cylinder is an integral part of the top cable and needs gently prying off with something like a blunt, flat screwdriver.

after busting one I now use a slipjoint plier so I can better distrubte the load and avoid an expensive and frustrating CRACK!

Need to unhook the cable from the pump roller & also the throttle cable from the slide. That let's you get enough out the top for the cables to be flicked off the plastic slide which is part of the top cable. Look closely at the pump cable as frays & rusts where it goes through the adjuster bend to the pump. It also saws through the plastic guide through that adjuster. The top of the junction box just pops off.

Item 29 in that parts diagram seems to be missing the foot and a half of electrical tape that encapsulates the final assembly.

Thanks for the replies,

I am going to disconnect all of the cables from the pump, carb, and throttle before trying anything.

And yep, there was electrical tape cover the throttle cable cap. It seem like the lower portion on the # 29 junction (carb and pump) are one unit..

I have not had a chance to inspect it more closely.
