Hello, restoring a 1971 DT1MX and checking if they came with a Chain Case or not. I see pictures of some with it and some without.

CMSNL online parts list suggests that the top case (silver) was a standard fitting and the lower one (black) an optional extra.

I did not buy either of my DT1MXs new ( I have a 70 and a 71), but my 70 came with the lower chain guide.  Both had the upper silver case.
