1971 DT1MX was created by Doctor K

Quick question from a new member: I looked up the VIN numbers on the website and I noticed that the VIN numbers for the 1971 DT1MX and 'DT1S' are similar. I have what I believe is a close-ratio DT1MX motor, #DT1F-91163; it also has matching numbers stamped on the bottom of both cases - #3751 (none of my other Yamaha Enduro motors have these numbers stamped into the bottom of the cases). The transmission cluster is close-ratio, which I understand means first and second gear are higher than the wide-ratio tranny with 3rd-5th the same. Do I have all this right? Is this a DT1MX motor or a DT1S? Thanx!

Dr Kawasaki 1976 YZ80, 1972 DT2, 1972 RT2, 1971 (DT1MX)?

Does anyone know about the 1971 DT1MX and 1971 DT1S having the same VIN number (check out the tech info - VIN numbers)? Thanx, Dr K

The DT1 S isn't a 71 model , it's actually a 69 1/2 .
