1971 RT1 rebuild was created by Clubcar
I've been jumping around with posts so I'm starting a thread for my "restoration"/rebuild of my 1971 RT1 360. Attached are some photos documenting the journey so far. I've powder coated the frame and swing arm and have steel woolled the front wheel, which I would like any comments/suggestions on what else I can do, if anything to bring them back. Also, the handlebars are pretty bad, can I ceramic coat them? Thanks

Great start with the restoration, I would personally just buy a new set of bars as they aren’t expensive.
Good luck with the project.

I agree with DT-Steve985 that new bars aren’t that expensive, but I have found that a leftover can of aluminum paint was free. I wire brushed and sanded off the rust and blew on a couple coats of paint. The bars still look decent a couples years out.

I would try Evaporust and use it for other things too.
I have just rescued a reflector assembly for a 1969 AT1 rear light. I have had it soaking in there with umpteen other parts. Reflectors come up mint. Evaporust is a great product . i love it .
