Yes, the M1 is a 68 (30mm) GYT kit carb
The standard carb was a 26mm
The "star" mark indicates that it's a government inspected part!

You might be able to trade your gyt carb for a standard carb if you desire . . . I'm sure somebody would take you up on that!!

Man thanks Dave! These bikes have more secrets apparently. Bought from two different states about 4 weeks apart. I wonder what the motors themselves will tell on the inside? Both GYT heads and now carbs. One bike had an expansion chamber on it and the owner of 35 years said it used to scream. I paid up good money for NOS stock 68 heads for the bikes as I usually put them back to stock. Now I don't know. One bike had the 21" front wheel and you could tell it had been respoked because the fellow crossed the spokes a different way on the stock hub and you could tell how they were installed originally. The rim was rusted and crusty so just kept the hub and will respoke to the stock 19 inch.

I forgot I bought a spare carb last fall after I got the bikes. I figured I might need a replacement or for parts. Also a top idle adjust model. It has “214” and “E3” with a star. I held up the E3 next to the M1 and looked through them. I see the difference in inner diameter. Thanks again for the expert information!

30 is the venturi diameter...  basically slightly bigger bore than enduro carb.  Externally carb can be identical.

The AT MX carb was the same thing...  looks like Enduro version with bigger bore and different jets.

Thanks Mark T. Never too late. After working on 360 and 400 bikes the last few years and then looking at the M1 it seemed pretty normal. After looking through the M1 and comparing to the 26 MM one…that stock carb looks really small! I was glad the outside diameter of both are the same so no worries about the stock air box tube fitting.  Whatever way I decide to restore…either carb will work.  Thanks all!
