IT’S ALIVE!! was created by Schu
Well I finished cleaning it up, resealed everything, new brake shoes, air filter, and a handful of misc small parts, and IT’S ALIVE!! It didn’t come with that exhaust. I have a weakness for the sound of expansion chambers…. Still need to clean and flush out the gas tank, so it’s running on my high tech testing reservoir.
copied below was a previous post on this bike when I bought it.
“Got this CT175C for $450. The seller was probably about 35 years old. Said it was his dad's bike and his dad had passed away a few years ago. The bike was kept at their cottage in northern Michigan. At one point the bike was stolen from the storage shed. The police found it laying in a roadside ditch. Most likely some young troublemakers joy riding till it ran out of gas. His father was so angry that he stashed the bike in the basement of the cottage for safe keeping. That was well over 15 years ago. The son dragged it out of the basement and brought it home to sell as is, not running, and still hot wired from the thieves. He got a little emotional as we were loading it in the truck, but said his father would be glad that it was going to someone like me that will truly appreciate it. I plan to keep it simple on this one.”
Here’s a link to it’s first start up in 20 year.

Congratulations Schu! That looks and sounds great, and is probably burning off oil that leaked from the transmission. If you have the seller's email, I'd send him a link to that video. Might make his day. Couple years ago I gave away a nice Wurlitzer organ my parents bought back in the seventies to a young musician that was setting up a studio (I listed it on Reverb for $1 just to move it, and hopefully find it a good home). He messaged me a year later saying how much he was enjoying it. Really made me happy that it was in the hands of someone that appreciated it.

Thanks! All that smoke was due to the amount of oil I put in my high tech test reservoir. I dumped a bunch of 2-stroke oil into a one quart oil bottle, filled it halfway with gas that was already mixed 32:1 and hosed it to the carb. Plus it was hooked up to the oil pump that was probably pumping even more oil.
The previous owner lives only a few miles from my house. I will ride it to his house once I get the rear tire swapped out.
