Number of Friction Discs? was created by Pedalcrazy

I'm wondering about how to assemble my DT1 clutch pack. This is my first DT1. I have 360 and 400 bikes. In the parts list it shows (6) frictions and a spacer between the first two steels. The bigger bikes use (7) frictions without the spacer. I ask because I had minor slipping on the bigger bikes with (7) new Yamaha frictions. Replaced with (7) Barnett frictions and no slipping. So my question is should I keep the spacer on the DT1 and just use (6) frictions like designed or replace the spacer with another friction? Thoughts? Anyone found the need for the 7th friction on a DT1? Can you even replace the spacer with a friction...Will it fit? I haven't torn the thing a part yet to check clearances. Thanks in advance.

If the set comes with 7 friction & you can fit it by removing the thick steel spacer then why not do it--i would. Only thing to watch is that the drive ears don't hit the end of the basket slots before touching the steel plate. I'm in the midst of shuffling old plates & things to do similar on my slipping 360. But my clutch basket & hub are a mixture of bits from 250 & 360 so i won't confuse things at this stage.
