CT1 badge bike oil tank decal was created by adguy2112

I've found one post in the forum that says you don't clearcoat over the foil backed oil tank decal but instead clearcoat the tank and painted stripes then place the decal on top of the clearcoat. I usually prefer to have multiple sources confirming info rather than relying on one source. Can any of you CT owners who've done restorations confirm the proper procedure? I'm waiting on the decals to arrive but we're expecting more rain soon so I only have a small window for the clearcoat procedure. If I don't need the decals to finish that would be good news. Thanks in advance.

Good thing. I rolled the dice. Just clear coated. Thanks for confirming. Too late now but now I won’t second guess myself.

it's actually a lime. The skin holds up when pushed in, doesn't fall out when hanging and will accept the paint so it doesn't rot while going though the procedure. I used a small pippin apple that fell off my tree on my last paint job. It actually worked a bit better.

Here's another one for everyone that seems so wrong but is actually amazing. I was doing re-roof on my cabin. hot and hungry I grabbed a bag of Oreo cookies and spied some cheese whiz in the cabinet. Being in a hurry I just sprayed that cheese (if you can call it that) on top of the cookie and holy cow it was like chocolate cheesecake. Everyone says it sounds disgusting (and it does) but all our family and friends are converts. If you're brave give it a try.

Necessity drives invention.
