For sure this is a great site. Folks offer assistance and they know their stuff. Helped me get my 1971 AT1C running good. I got my side cover in. Not that i needed the cover but it had an oil pump on it. I got it so cheap, i had to chance it. For the first time ever, I actually got to take my finger and turn the the thin white priming wheel, lol. Without this site, i would not even have known it was supposed to turn. Thanks to all

It appears i might have gotten lucky. The pump i got with that cheap side cover appears to work properly. I have an extra side cover, lol. I had to replace the throttle recoil spring as it was rusty and broke. I used the one and the shims off my old one. I still need to test to make sure its pumping the proper amounts. For sure, im still running premix and its for sure getting some extra oil. Update on the other one is that i still have not got the shaft freed up but i have not removed the rubber seal yet. The old used one i got in was the priority. I will pull that seal on the other one to see if that helps me get the shaft out. See the link

New member, just came across this resource and the forum is fantastic.
I acquired a 1971 L5T-A TrailMaster. Previous barn bike that a gentleman up the road got to running condition, but didn't have the heart to take it any further. it was running well, but he was premixing as well as running the autolube pump as he did not trust the pump.
When I dug into it, the pump was leaking quite badly and leaving a mess of 2 stroke oil where ever the bike ended up. I pulled the pump and disassembled. It looked like someone else had been in there as gasket had been gooped up with liquid gaskets etc.
I ran it through the ultrasonic, got it looking good and picked up the HVC seal kit. I rebuilt the pump (even managing to place the small springs and pins many times successfully), but when I snugged the plinger/worm gear into the body, the piston could still move up and down, but the worm gear became very very tight and you could not rotate things with the starter wheel. Back off the screws on the body, and things are good.
I ended up disassembling/reassembling more times than I would like to admit trying to figure out what this happens, and in the process I think I have damaged something as the big shaft that goes through the body no longer goes in smoothly and it feels like I have steel on aluminum binding.
Long story short, after reading through this fantastic resource, the answer appears to be DEET...

Yes, DEET is a great resource for pump repairs (as well as many other things!).

Best thing about DEET is that even though you may have screwed things up, he'll figure out what you did and let you know in a kindly fashion what that was and how to avoid it in the future. I once told him he is a great teacher, better than most I met in my own 28 years of teaching in the public schools. But I'll bet he's never had a formal education course in his life. He was just born that way.

Well, I have a good excuse....
I was abducted by aliens as an infant.
They brought me back in 1968 along with a white motorcycle.
