HT1 No Spark was created by luke.fabbri

Ok, so I posted here a little while ago about my HT1 not having any spark and I initially thought it might be wired wrong. It turned out not to be, so my dad thought the points and condenser may be bad so we bought a new pair and installed them. We are still not seeing any spark. The video attached shows what we are getting. Just so you know, we also tested the black wire straight to the coil, and saw no spark from the plug.

You are not seeing "spark", you're seeing AC power on those other wires.  Points ground out the power until the precise moment spark is required.  Then when they open a quick pulse goes to ignition coil.  Not sure a test light will show that.

With an Rx1 ohmmeter, can you see a difference in resistance between the black wire and ground with points open and points closed?  Resistance should be about 1-2 ohms with points open and zero with points closed.  This is critical.  If not the two most common causes are:

Clean the new points.

Make sure points wire is not grounded out during installation.

P.S.  that diagram is generic...  colors are not correct and you probably only have one wire to the points.  How that wire is installed is the same.
