Hi all,
I got new races and balls installed, only dropped one and found it!.  I am thinking to tighten just a very small bit past "no play", but before I proceed I wanted to ask experts to avoid backtracking.
Thank you.

What I have done is, tighten, when it starts to feel a little rough when wheel is turned, back off slightly until it feels smooth.
Thanks Mark

I like to keep then fractionaly tighter than zero. Funny thing is--or not funny realy--.Assembling new bikes at work i found all the smaller bikes had the steering head tightened so much that the races were dented from the factory. the apprentice setting up the robot must've miscalculated as they were realy realy bad. Idealy shouldve replaced them under warranty but never happened--just get it out the door, it's sold. Had to loosen them up on the adjuster though, probably half a turn. & i've mentioned it before--where yamaha have that B%^&*y terrible system of the top adjustable cone running on the stem thread possibly more on smaller bikes, but flattens off the top of the unused threads & produces play between stem & inner of the cone which can be felt under front brakeing while pushing the bike in the shop. Not ideal.

thanks gentlemen
I took a very light hand, just a smige past zero and done
no upside to creating micro flat spots

i know i should prob start another thread but i pusing 90W into one hole of steering damper and out the other....seems pretty useless but looks cool nontheless!
