1970 RT1 360 was created by nersasian
Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I just bought a 1970 RT1 from the original owner here in California. It has 3600 miles on it and it even has the original tires still on it. It's in pretty good shape for it's age, but one thing it does need is a new rear fender The old one got bent under and hit the rear tire when the bike got away from him one time in the dirt. Rear tail light is a little messed up too. Is there anyone out there that sells these? Thanks, Steve

Man you’re very lucky to find one like that. Would love one myself. Let’s know how it runs sometime. Welcome from NZ downunder. Ps, I remember riding the first one we sold at work in 1970 & still like them now better than the RT2 in “72. Great shaped tank & good old piston port motor before the reed valve. I’ve got the 250 version still that i’ve Had for 40 years, rough old bike but runs perfect.

Is the mudguard too damaged to be repaired by a body workshop?
If you haven't done so already, change both sets of brake shoes and maybe fit a 6v voltage regulator.

Thanks and yes luck had something to do with it. Other than being a bit of a beast to get started (haven't quite figured out the right sequence yet), it seems to run really good! Been to NZ a couple times in the past as we have friends outside of Auckland. I'd love to get a 250 as well, but for now, this will do.

Haven't had much time yet to change anything, but I will check the brakes and check into a regulator. Not sure if the rear fender can be fixed, but I will be removing it and taking it to a body shop to see what can be done. I guess a nos or good used one are hard to find. Thanks!

Welcome nersasian and hello from me too from the UK.
Nice find. I have the B version of your bike,
Mine starts easy .
I'm interested to see your progress and what you're going to do.
just remember, there's loads of asbestos used on our bikes so just have a little care .
You should find what you need in the US. The US was the target market for our bikes.
Regards Shyted.
