Looks like they turned their spare anchor into a skid plate.

So much stuff was made aftermarket back in the day it's hard to know. I've never seen one like that but that doesn't mean they weren't made as an accessory somewhere... looks pretty professional the way it's bent but there are a lot of craftsmen out there too that make amazing stuff in the home garage.

That's not a "skid plate" . That's a genuine BASH plate. :cheer:

Certainly substantial!! Almost looks like the rear is held away from the frame/motor by the 2 braces, rather than tucked up to the frame per standard. I used what had been an alloy skidplate from an OSSA pioneer, that had been extended. It goes all the way to the rear frame crossbar. I carved a hole so I could get at the drain plug.

That one looks like a Preston Petty unit to me. I believe they made them in silver also.

And yes, there is an airhead in the background- a '77 R100/7 that I bought off a Harley dealer in the spring of 1978. Courted the wife on it!

Now that you mentioned, I believe the plastic skid plate is a Preston Petty, thanks for reminding my mind.
Thanks Mark
