The gent in Lakewood is a mystery to me with lots of odd bikes
I think I tried to chat with him once, or that I did chat with him (or was it his assistant and he never called me back....story was a retired doc or something. He might be on the up and up, but the Chicago in me had me move on

Can't say, if it was closer to me I'd take a look but I'm all the way at the other end of the state.

I think that seller is "legendary" in So Cal... doctor or dentist... can't remember which. Sells a lot of bikes that are "cosmetically fixed up"... most I've seen don't have electrical system working. Some are real "lipstick on a pig" money pits. Others are reportedly pretty good shape. If anyone is interested, I'd suggest seeing the bike in person.

Mark - thanks for your note, it helped to job my memory, retired dentist, with a large volume of bikes in a container comes to mind
To each is own, but man could just be an old guy fart amusing himself building and selling hermaphrodite bikes.
personally, I have bought several bikes from some very odd people and found some gems....although I did once hit a cost overrun when I determined that DT400E had tiny dia chopstix forks from a much smaller bike, but it si now stock and it is now priceless to me!

Reminiscent of how I came by my DT400.
I bought it from a guy in the UK that imports bikes from the States.
Mine came from a bloke in Ohio (I have the full title / name / address) who aparrently has loads of low mileage old Jap bikes, story goes that he buys them rides them for a short time and parks them up in his (huge) shed and then many years later sells them.
So he just keeps buying bikes rides them until bored / parks them up / sells them.
My DT was showing only 1600 miles when I bought - condition seems to bear this out, but no real way of telling.

Just FYI, I think it was DEET that brought this up on the old forum years ago... in this crazy world somehow it's almost impossible to not unintentionally offend. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap
But of course there were also lots of legendary JAP-powered bikes, especially in the UK... named after founder John Alfred Prestwich. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JA_Prestwich_Industries
