I will certainly keep this in mind. I am going to test it with the original stock clutch first and see how it goes. can you give a link or post which brand of kit and where to get the one that will fit?

Thanks Blackhat!

I got a new 5 3/4" headlight assembly for a Harley, these were cheap and I could not resist. it takes a H4 bulb and it has a 60/55 watt H4 Bulb in it.

it fits but I had to relieve the housing a little and put a notch in the trim ring. after a little work it fits like a glove.

here is some genuine Koito Headlight bucket screws. I found these for a great price in a package of 5. I used 3 already in some bikes that needed them.

Do you have sources for both the screws and the headlight that you can share with us all? Both look to be things that we all may have a use for at one time or another! As long as the Harley logo is hidden inside the shell, no one should mind :)

I do but they are from Ebay. here is the listings on them. I forgot the screws were sold individually. I went ahead and bought 5 of them. they were a little more expensive than I thought too. these screws until recently were hard to find.

Why pay $10 for a 7 cent screw?
Those are available all day long at BoltDepot.

The SS version is only 18 cents.

From the outside, they look ALMOST the same. The only difference is a pointed end (and you can add that with a grinder)
If it is OK to have a headlight that says Harley Davidson in it, why not use a regular screw?

lol Deet. nobody knows it is a part for a Harley unless they follow this crazy thread. I have nothing against Harley Davidson except them being a high priced status symbol. there is a few Harleys I would love to have like a XR750 from the late 60's or early 70's. besides my younger brother bought a 103 cubic inch full dress Harley. that headlight will get a few laughs from him. :haha besides it is made by Hella which is known for their lighting products.

I have seen their lighting equipment on a few off road racers and those mega watt systems are very impressive. another thing is I like to buy American if I can afford it. this is one of the reasons I like Wiseco pistons for example. these headlights were going for 26 bucks and the other ones I was considering cost nearly as much and I can be sure of the quality in the headlight I picked up.

as for the screws, this bike is not the only one I am using it in. I got one of those screws in my RT1B and the other one in the other DT400. I have yet to build the 1970 DT1 and the other 1968 DT1 and the extras I have is for those bikes.

when I bought the screws, they were not 10 dollars each, they were then about 2.50 each. he may have raised his price after I bought them or he might have had them on sale. anyway it was not as bad then as it seems now. I bought those about 2 months ago.

FrankC,thanks! I had problems posting Ebay related stuff and that was why I did not post the links for the stuff. Makotosun,You have my sincere apologies.

here I am going into a little details on the new found Magneto and sprocket covers I picked up a little time ago.

I ran out of engine paint so I could not paint the sprocket cover but at least I got the Mag cover done. it was in typical shape with bad paint and a big scar in the cover.

in the process of removing the scar. I used some 3M buffing wheels on a 3" disc on a die grinder. these are gentle with aluminum and magnesium.
