My mate is great at restoring an old Volkswagen, which is good because he's terrible at parking

Winter ride as we're having a warm spell, took the XT250 as it was a solo ride to a new area; BLM's Shasta-Chappie OHV area near Redding, CA. It has about 200 miles of ohv legal dirt roads and trail, well signed, well maintained, good views, and fun trails I'll be back for sure.

Darin, what is cruising speed with that XT on highways? I've been considering getting either an XT or a XL for longer rides with some highway use. Trying to determine if the 250 is big enough.

Well I hate to admit how heavy I am at the moment, but with my pack and gear on probably about 200lbs. I typically cruise at 55-60 in the flats. I don't like ringing it out, but it can do 65-70 ok but revs are high for my taste, and it's so light it's not terribly stable. That said I just don't like wind at those speeds, in the past even on an XS850 or BMW F650 GS I found myself going 55-60 most the time. Up hills it'll hold 50 or so. On the highways the WR250R was a much more capable machine with power higher in the rpm range, switch that for technical trail riding though where the XT250 shines as it has great bottom end.

No snow capped mountain or tree lined fire roads, but we do have The Queen's Castle

Had some nice weather and got these three out today and ran them around.  None are show pieces, but all pretty original and fun to ride.

Not technically a pic (or is it a few hundred pics all at once).

My '75 DT250B starting for the first time in my ownership. I took it from a lump beside a garage to this in about two years on and off.
