Images tend to be a large part of server load so I'm sure they are getting automatically compressed and downsized to save storage space as well as bandwidth.

Then why are your images so crystal clear when you upload photos? I can zoom in on a bolt head in your photos.

Ok maybe not. I just went back to your recent photos and they have a little graininess when I zoom in. But mine are worse than everybody's.

I didn't realize they were, they display at lower resolution than I upload (1200x800 at 72 dpi). Most tend to be from a dedicated camera not just my phone so that helps a bit.

I take pictures with my phone, Galaxy S9, which takes great photos. Then I email them to myself and download them to my iPad. I then use my iPad to log onto the forum and upload my photos. The original file size is large, like 6 meg or more, so I know they get downsized when uploaded. But why doesn't this loss of quality happen to others?

Might be too big and getting flagged of downsizing by the server (or it's happening automatically in your work flow). I'd have to double check but I'm sure my images being uploaded are under 1mb

It happens to me, when I upload a relatively high resolution (2-6Meg pixels) picture and it gets reduced to a much lower resolution, about 100K pixels.
