DT250 right crankcase was created by Enduro nut

So im in the process of getting ready to paint and install all new bearings and seals on the lower end of my 1975 DT250 when i noticed this chip in the right crankcase where the main bearing/seal sits. My brotheres are welders and i can have them weld this then i can shape it with the dremel. My question is should the right side look like the left? with the hole and all?

Perhaps your right, seeing how that damage is where the bearing goes and not the seal it should be ok i would think. On 2nd thought maybe some JB weld would be a good idea. Ill think on it but chances are ill leave it.

I might be wrong but nothing goes where the damage is.  Bearing fits in the larger OD and seal goes in from the other side and needs to stop before it blocks the hole.

Case may have been that way from the factory?

I'd leave it alone. Can't see any detrimental effect of it being there.
