Just wondering what is best gasket maker to use between crankcase and cylinder. Yamabond 4 or would the permatex grey stuff work? I had bought a gasket set but that gasket that was supposed to go there doesnt fit.

Hi Staci.
If you are on about the centre crank case halves then Yamabond will do the job correctly.
Just check out the amount of solution that ends up in the lower crank case ( where the crank shaft sits )
There's no gasket for the case halves.

Just buy the right gasket from Partzilla. They're cheap as anything. It will be the correct thickness as well.
I too have had none genuine gaskets not fitting. It works out less buying the right one in the long run . the part # is 18G1135101.
I take it your bike is the monoshock 175 .
If it's the twin shock then 2481135100. Cost is around 7 USD

The only Permatex Grey stuff that's suitable 2 stroke applications is Motoseal, its solvent based not silicone based. But you only want to use this between the case halves, not the cylinder base gasket. Best bet is to get the right gasket. Not using a base gasket will lower the cylinder and head in relation to the piston and crank, if you have a head or cylinder that's been decked or shaved this could cause the piston come into contact with the head causing a lot of damage for the want of a $4 gasket.

I replied in your other post, using something other than a 5 to 10 dollar gasket is not worth damaging your engine and then it is a whole lot more expensive to repair.
